Chandler rehires school staff

Chandler Board of Education members this week approved temporary appropriations, employed several new personnel and re-employed all of its support staff.

They also accepted a couple of resignations. School Supt. Scott Baade said temporary appropriations for Fiscal Year 2024/2025 total $8,013,000 in the General Fund; $758,400 in the Building Fund; and $408,800 in the Child Nutrition Fund.

New personnel employed include Carol McCormick, cafeteria staff worker; Gina Horton, elementary teacher; Ayla Loughry, elementary teacher; Savannah Goodgion, elementary aide; Marissa Gullaba, substitute/aide; and Maranda Smith, Title VI tutor.

Resignations accepted include Doug McCoy, secondary teacher and Regina McVey, secondary teacher.

In other business, the board members: Approved the teacher salary schedule for FY25. Approved the authorization to pay the FY25 allocation of alternative education funds to the local education agency (Stroud Schools) for the alternative education cooperative.

Voted to rescind the action taken by the Board at its May 13, 2024 board meeting approving the initial employment of teacher Catherine Smith for the 2024-2025 school year.

Approved the agreement for representation between Chandler Public Schools and its board of education with Rosenstein, Fist & Ringold.

This is an agreement for legal services including but not limited to, legal advice, consultation and representation as requested.

Approved the milk bid from Hiland Dairy Foods Co. Approved the bid from Ben E. Keith as the food vendor for the 2024/2025 school year to furnish food and supplies for the Child Nutrition Program.

Approved the contract with Oklahoma Drug & Alcohol Testing, LLC (ODAT) for testing of bus drivers for the 2024/2025 school year.

Agreed to the contract renewal with OSIG for property and liability insurance for 2024/2025 school year, for coverage to begin July 1, 2024.

Approved a bid proposal for workman’s compensation insurance for Chandler Public Schools for the 2024/2025 school year.

Approved the request to add “Class of 2026” to the list of sub-accounts and remove “Class of 2022 and Class of 2023” in the activity fund for FY 2024/2025.

Authorized Scott Baade to act as the Chandler School District Director of Federal Programs to sign and file all Federal claims beginning July 1, 2024.

Approved a list of high school track items as surplus. Approved open transfers to the Chandler School District.
