Our Dad, Colonel Robert Nolan Chase was born a few miles south of Carney, Okla., on July 17, 1935 to Amos and Delpha Chase. He passed away on June 24, 2019 at his home in Carney.

Dad lived most of his life in Lincoln County, in close proximity to his parents and his brother Gene, on land that has been in his family since 1913. He loved family, friends, country, God, and Sooner football. Dad was especially close to his best friend and brother Gene, and was so thankful that they were able to spend more time together after retiring. Dad had a great sense of humor, and was known for his silly antics. He loved people and was loyal to his many friends. He was proud to serve in the Oklahoma Army National Guard from 1953 to 1986, achieving the rank of colonel, and was inducted into the Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. He taught his children duty, honor, and love of country. He enjoyed history and his family, and genealogy was his way of bringing those two together. He loved exploring his family’s heritage, and we are so grateful for his efforts to discover and record our ancestry.

The last three years of Dad’s life he fought a fierce battle for his health with grace, strength, and courage.

We are celebrating our Dad, a little more than a year since his passing, on what would have been his 85th birthday. Dad would want the people in his hometown to know how much he loved them and how precious those relationships were to him. In the words of Helen Keller, “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.”
