Lincoln County voters in Tuesday’s primary election narrowed the contest for sheriff and elected two other county officials.
Two candidates remain on the ballot in the sheriff’s race. Kevin Garrett had 1,626 votes, Aaron Bennett, 1,622 and they will square off in the Aug. 27 runoff primary election with the winner succeeding Lincoln County Sheriff Charlie Dougherty, who is retiring.
The other three candidates in the race and their votes included Chad Pavlicek, 796, Jim Hampton 336, and Larry Stover, 252.
Incumbent County Clerk Alicia Wagnon defeated Dina Wayland Frazier 2,340 to 2,190 to retain her seat.
District 2 County Commissioner Marlon Miller won over Bobby W. Johnson 1,165 to 837.
House District 32 incumbent State Rep. Kevin Wallace faces Jim Shaw in a runoff. Shaw led the race 2,347 to 2,136. Jason Shilling had 633 votes.
In Pottawatomie County, Freeland Wood won the Sheriff’s race over Travis Dinwiddie 4,945 votes to 1,1518 succeeding current Sheriff Mike Booth, who is retiring.
Incumbent County Clerk Raeshel Flewallen won over Buck Day, 3,751 to 2,643.
Incumbent District 2 County Commissioner Greg Rush had 848 votes, Scott W. Hawkins, 543, Justin Caldwell, 412, John Stanley 253, Terry Gregory, 118.
Rush and Hawkins will be in the primary runoff election.
District 17 State Sen. Shane Jett was leading three others in his re-election bid, including Ron Sharp, Rachael Melot and Cody Swearingen District 28 State Rep. Danny Williams won over Darlene Wallace 1,995 to 1,216.
