AChandler man previously convicted of five felonies over several years has been charged with two more.

Terry Ray Boren, 52, was formally charged recently in Lincoln County District with failure to register as sex offender and sex offender living within 2,000 feet of a school.

Appearing before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk, Boren’s bond was set at $3,000 and she scheduled his initial appearance for June 27.

In Count 1, Boren is accused of between May 26, 2023 and May 26, 2024 of failing to register as a sex offender by failing to register his address with the Chandler Police Department after having been convicted on Aug. 30, 2006 in Canadian County of lewd acts with a child under 16.

Count 2 charges him between those same dates of violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act by residing within 2,000 feet of Eastside Elementary School after having been convicted of that same crime as stated in Count 1.

In a probable cause affidavit, Chandler Police Officer Chris Hawkins states he was dispatched to a residence in Chandler in reference to a male subject, later identified as Boren, as possibly wanting to take his own life.

After arriving on the scene, Hawkins later contacted the Communications Center for assistance fromtheLincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies Kevin Chapman, Larry Stover, Jr., and Memphis Anderson arrived to assist.

Boren reportedly was adamant that he didn’t want to commit suicide. Hawkins learned through Boren’s girlfriend that Boren might have a warrant out of Delaware County for his arrest for failure to register as a sex offender and that was confirmed through Lincoln County CommunicationsCenter. Boren was taken into custody for the Delaware County warrant. He had been living at a Chandler residence for roughly a year.

Supplemental information filed by Assistant District Attorney Kelly Trimble shows in addition to the Canadian County conviction against Boren in 2006, he was convicted on the same day and in the same county of forcible oral sodomy.

Other previous convictions include: In Cleveland County District Court on Jan. 16, 2002, harassing telephone calls;inOklahoma County District Court on Dec. 11, 2003, second degree burglary; and in Oklahoma County on Oct. 23, 2018 failure to register as a sex offender.
